Your Daily Guide

TGIF! Today is the final day of our City Cast Nashville Neighbors spring membership campaign.

Over the past two weeks, we've welcomed so many new Neighbors into our community, and we’re so grateful for the support. Seeing y’all show up for this work reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

If you haven't joined yet, today is the day. We're here because we believe this city is worth showing up for — worth understanding, worth celebrating, worth investing in. And we can only keep doing this work if neighbors like you are willing to bet on it.

Show some neighborly love. Become a City Cast Nashville Neighbor.

Don't wait. Today is also your last chance to get the Oxford Pennant — a custom American-made wool felt pennant designed specifically for people who love this city.

A bright yellow pennant with a guitar icon on the left. Text reads: I live here on purpose. Nashville City Cast.

🤧 Nashville’s Failing Grade

The American Lung Association has released its annual “State of the Air” report, and sorry to my fellow local asthmatics, it doesn’t look good. On today’s podcast, we’re chatting about our failing environmental report card, plus early voting, East Bank developments, and more news from the week. [🎧 City Cast Nashville]

🏘️ New Affordable Housing

Mayflower Apartments, a 1920s complex in Hillsboro Village, has been acquired by The Pathway Housing Fund, an affordable housing nonprofit. Pathway plans to protect the long-term affordability of the Mayflower’s 18 apartments amid Nashville’s rising rents. It’s the third property Pathway has bought this year. [WKRN]

🏛️ TN Legislature Wraps Up

The 114th Tennessee General Assembly has come to a close, marking Gov. Bill Lee’s final session as the state’s governor, and the last for retiring Lt. Gov. Randy McNally. Despite heated debates over immigration, private school vouchers, and health care, many of the Republican supermajority’s bills passed. Stay tuned for more coverage on Monday’s podcast. Test Yourself on Nashville Trivia

This week, local third through eighth-grade students have been participating in mandatory Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program tests. To continue to fourth grade, third graders must “meet or exceed” expectations on the English Language Arts portion of the test or receive intervention services.

I’ve compiled five questions from the TN Dept. of Education’s mock TCAP test for third graders. Could you pass the third-grade TCAP test? Test yourself to find out! And share this test with friends to compare scores!

Furball Friday

Meet Fred Henry! (Courtesy of Shari H.)

Fred Henry spent the first five years of his life living in a cage until his human rescued him three years ago. He’s been living the pampered furbaby life ever since. A transplant from Michigan, Fred will always be a Michigan Wolverine fan, though he’s a happy boy living in Nashville. He wears his Michigan jersey when he watches football with his mom, and he also loves taking walks and sitting on the patio in the afternoons.

So glad you found your furever home, Fred!
