❌ Metro Council Considers Data Center Ban

Metro Council is considering a bill proposed by Councilmembers Courtney Johnston and Russ Bradford that would place a temporary ban on new data center developments. The bill passed on first reading, but needs two additional Council readings to pass. If successful, the bill could impact the construction of data centers by the Nashville Zoo and on Fisk University’s campus. [WSMV]

🎵 Music City Center Seeks Expansion

The Music City Center owner has purchased a former 1.3-acre parking garage lot adjacent to the center for $52.03 million. The Convention Center Authority plans to use the property to expand its footprint. A 2025 study reported the convention center was losing business due to a lack of space. [WSMV]

🚶 TN Gets More Dangerous for Pedestrians

According to a new report that measures pedestrian fatalities in 101 of the U.S.’s largest metro areas, Tennessee is only getting more dangerous for pedestrians. Memphis topped the list, and Nashville came in at 36, with 246 pedestrian deaths between 2018 and 2022, almost doubling since the previous report. [WPLN]

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off today, June 11, and runs until July 19. Here are some of the best places to watch World Cup games in Nashville, from epic kick-off parties to rooftop bars.

Plaza Mariachi

Plaza Mariachi is encouraging everyone to bring their flags and wear jerseys to its epic kick-off party today, from 1:30 p.m. to midnight. There will be huge LED screens inside and outside, plus food trucks and special drink offerings. Plaza Mariachi is hosting a World Cup watch party for every single game.

GEODIS & Centennial Parks

Join Nashville SC for free watch parties for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s group stage games on June 12, June 19, and June 25. You’ll find fan activities, food, drinks, and a live showing of the USA’s matches on the World Stage. June 19’s party will be at Centennial Park, so folks can head over to the Juneteenth615 Festival afterward. The other two matches will be at GEODIS Park’s Publix Plaza.

East Nashville Beer Works

Both ENBW locations have watch parties for the U.S. game on June 12, starting at 8 p.m. Grab a pint and some snacks, and get there early to hang out with the City Cast Nashville team at the East location from 2-5 p.m.!

Fogg Street Lawn Club

Downtown Nashville’s British premier soccer pub features a rooftop bar, lawn bowling, and a full restaurant, and will be showing all the World Cup games. If you want guaranteed pub space, make a reservation, though the rooftop is first-come, first-served.
