🌳 Metro Parks' Plan for Growth

Metro Parks recently unveiled its Plan to Play 2026 Master Plan, a long-term strategy for expanding and maintaining Nashville's park system as it faces mounting pressures from a growing population and a backlog of millions of dollars in deferred maintenance. The plan outlines three investment scenarios, ranging from a "most attainable" option which would need $89.4 million over the next five years, to an ambitious vision that would add multiple parks, pools, and playgrounds at a cost of $704 million over the same period. With a significant funding gap remaining from its 2017 plan, Metro Parks is also exploring new ways to source funding. [🔐 The Tennessean]

🤔 Who Will Challenge Mayor O'Connell?

After announcing his reelection campaign last week, Mayor Freddie O'Connell has reported raising over $200,000, far outpacing his current challengers, Metro Councilmember Joy Styles and neighborhood activists Lou Wilbanks. The biggest question now is whether any other prominent candidates will enter the race and pose a serious challenge to O'Connell's bid for a second term.
