| ✈️ Turbulence at BNA Amid Record-Breaking Growth | Big changes are afoot at BNA. The airport now has two competing boards, billions of dollars in construction projects, and plans for new concourses, parking garages, lounges, roads, and maybe even a runway long enough to support nonstop flights to Asia. - Since its founding, the Metro Nashville Airport Authority board has been chosen entirely by city leaders, but a new state law put select city airport boards under the state’s control. Nashville has sued the state to retain control of the airport board. Both the state-appointed board and the Nashville-appointed board recently held meetings. [Nashville Scene]

An internal audit has raised concerns about how this settlement money is being spent. Metro Public Health Department managers interfered with the audit by instructing employees to alter their responses to a survey. Plus, there were mistakes on contractor payments and performance measurements were lacking. Some Metro councilmembers are considering more oversight. The ACLU’s lawsuit claims Republican lawmakers drew the map to dilute the votes of Black Tennesseans. While the injunction failed, the lawsuit remains pending. | | 🧑⚖️ Lawsuit Against New Illegal Immigration State Law | The ACLU and National Immigration Law Center have filed a second lawsuit seeking an immediate halt to recently passed legislation that makes illegal immigration a state crime. The bill makes it a criminal misdemeanor for immigrants to intentionally remain in Tennessee more than 90 days after receiving a final removal order from a judge.
