Neighbors vs. NASCAR: What Should Happen at the Nashville Fairgrounds?
As the decades-long debate over the future of Nashville’s historic Fairgrounds Speedway moves into 2026, a deal to expand the track for NASCAR races hovers in the background. Host Marie Cecile Anderson sits down with Heidi Basgall Favorite, a neighborhood advocate and member of Citizens Against Racetrack Expansion for Nashville (CARE), to learn what it’s like to live next to a racetrack for 15 years, and why CARE is fighting to change the Metro Charter and put affordable housing at the Fairgrounds instead.
