Mother’s Day is this Sunday! If you’re scrambling for ideas on how to spend the day celebrating the mom in your life, here are some ideas, from park excursions to art fairs. Sending lots of love to all the Nashville moms out there, and if this day is hard for you, I’m sending you love, too 🫶
🌺 For Gardening Moms
- Give her a gift card to one of our local garden centers.
- Take her to Cheekwood, which is having a summer annual plant sale. Plus, enchanted castles for the kids and plenty of food trucks!
- Spend a day at The Land in Kingston Springs, with plants at Simple Joy Nursery, nature-themed gifts at Wonder Gift and Garden, and an excellent spread at The Yorkshire Deli, including high tea if you reserve a spot.
- Let her shop online at Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary’s spring native plant sale.
🍽️ For Foodie Moms
- Check out one of our favorite new restaurants.
- Take her to Union Station Hotel for a Mother’s Day brunch and spring market.
- Enjoy a full brunch buffet with live music at City Winery.
- Have high tea at White Limozeen.
- Head to Frankies in East Nashville for a special team-up with the Curry Boys.
📚 For Bookish Moms
- Take her on an independent bookstore crawl, or go to a new-to-her bookstore.
- Go to Parnassus Books for some bookish swag (I love their sock selection!), plus a new book. If you need a book rec, email me by Friday! Or ask the staff.
🎨 For Creative Moms
- Head to the Hendersonville Arts Festival.
- Go to Family Sunday at the Frist Art Museum. Tickets are only $10 on Sunday, and kids are always free.
- Take her shopping at Turnip Green Creative Reuse.
- Visit the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, which will have lots of cool vendors.
⚾ For Sporty Moms
- It’s Sunday Family Fun Day at First Horizon Park as the Nashville Sounds faceoff with the Norfolk Tides.
- Get swag from her favorite local team!
🥾 For Outdoorsy Moms
- Take her to one of our state parks; several have Mother’s Day specials!
- Last year my spouse and daughter surprised me with a trip to Bernheim Forest and Arboretum in Kentucky to see the forest giants, which you might remember from Cheekwood last summer.
- Head to a waterfall.
- Moms climb free at The Adventure Park on Sunday.
- If you’d like to stay local, here are some under-the-radar parks your mom might enjoy: Deerwood Arboretum in Brentwood, a paved hike among trees with access to the Little Harpeth River where kids can dig for rocks; Beaman Park for a hike fully immersed in the forest; Bells Bend for beautiful meadows (double check for ticks before you leave); drive along the Natchez Trace and find random trails to explore.
