We’ve got a big voting year ahead of us, folks, with county, state, and federal elections. You’ll have the chance to cast your vote almost every month from now until November. Here’s your guide to key voting dates this year. We’ll be covering more specific information about candidates in the weeks and months ahead, though we have interviewed two gubernatorial candidates: Democrat Adam “Ditch” Kurtz and Democrat Jerri Green.
🗳️ Voting Basics
Check your voter registration, and register to vote as soon as possible, or update your address if you’ve moved. Photo ID is required to vote in Tennessee. Here are the types of ID you can bring. Not sure where to vote, or what district you’re in? You can find that information here.
Berry Hill Municipal Election
Today, March 17, is Election Day for Berry Hill’s next city commissioners. Four people are running to fill two spots on the three-person commission.
Davidson County Primary Election
- Voter registration deadline: April 6
- Last day to request an Absentee Ballot: April 25
- Early voting: April 15-30, see locations and schedule
- Election Day: May 5
- Description: Vote for select county judges, school board members, county clerks, and more. Here’s the list of candidates.
State & Federal Primary Election
- Voter registration deadline: July 7
- Last day to request an Absentee Ballot: July 27
- Early voting: July 17-Aug. 1, see locations and schedule
- Election Day: Aug. 6
- Description: Vote for your favorite party candidates in a slew of important state and federal elections, including governor, U.S. House and Senate seats, all state House seats, and select state Senate seats. State & Federal General Election
- Voter registration deadline: Oct. 5
- Last day to request an Absentee Ballot: Oct. 24
- Early voting: Oct. 14-29
- Election Day: Nov. 3
- Description: Vote for the final candidates for Tennessee governor, U.S. Senate and House, and state Senate and House. Nashville will also be voting in municipal elections for Belle Meade, Forest Hills, and Goodlettsville.
