Fall break begins Friday for public school students in Nashville. Here’s your guide to having a great fall break, from day camps to free kid-friendly activities.
🍽️ Feed the Kids
- MNPS students and families can grab free food boxes at three schools tomorrow, Oct. 8.

⛺ Fall Break Day Camps
Several local day camps still have openings. MNPS has camps at four elementary schools, while YMCA’s FunCo is offering programs at six other schools. The Adventure Science Center has fun STEM-themed camps, while the Centennial Performing Arts Studios and Little Blue Theatre have week-long programs for drama kids. The Nashville Police Activities League has a free mountain biking camp at Bells Bend Park.
🤑 Find the Free Stuff
- The Nashville Public Library has heaps of children’s activities during fall break for kids of all ages, from writing workshops to puppet shows and Halloween story times.
- Check for events at local parks and community centers.

🎟️ Events Worth the Money
- Little Blue Theatre is showing “Love That Dog,” a play based on the book by Sharon Creech, which MNPS fourth graders are reading this year. Or check out “A Year With Frog and Toad” at the Nashville Children’s Theatre.
- These pumpkin patches and fall festivals are calling your name.
- Celebrate Halloween early at Boo at the Zoo.
- Visit museums with fun children’s areas, like Lane Motor Museum, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Frist Art Museum, and Tennessee State Museum (which is free).
