Green Hills is hardly recognizable these days to OG Nashvillians, but thankfully, several beloved local businesses in the area are hanging on and deserve to be celebrated. Next time you’re in Green Hills, skip the mall and head to these local favorites instead.
The warm scent of fresh donuts will be sure to lure you inside the Donut Den. This Nashville staple just celebrated fifty years of serving some of the best donuts in town, and despite rents going up, they’ve somehow managed to keep their prices down. Don’t miss the cinnamon twist or the classic glazed!

Great Harvest Bread Co. offers daily specials and freshly baked bread to take home. (Marie Cecile Anderson / City Cast Nashville)
For a quick bite, Great Harvest Bread Co. is a top choice for anyone on the go. Their menu features a variety of sandwiches, soups, and sweets. It’s also a great spot to pick up a loaf of bread to enjoy at home.
Although it’s changed locations a few times, Green Hills Grille remains a go-to spot for locals craving spinach artichoke dip or a classic wedge salad. Their happy hour from 2:30-6 p.m. offers small bites starting at $7, and 50% off wine bottles. Good luck finding a better deal in town!

Parnassus Books is a book lover’s delight! (Marie Cecile Anderson / City Cast Nashville)
Parnassus Books is a magical little enclave offering books galore, comfy chairs to peruse said books, and even a fun play area for kids. With weekly events featuring renowned authors, you might even spot owner and beloved local author Ann Patchett. While I’m still sad about Davis-Kidd closing, I’m glad our indie book community still has a thriving home.
No offense to whoever named this boutique Cute & Comfy Shoes & Apparel, but if you can get past that, it’s worth a visit. With plenty of parking and frequent sales on shoes and clothing, it’s the perfect spot for shoppers looking to avoid the crowds at the Mall at Green Hills.
After navigating Green Hills traffic, you might need to unwind at Simply Therapeutic Massage, a charming, women-owned studio that tailors all its bodywork to your needs.

The Corner Pub is not your typical sports bar; it’s a place where many Nashvillans call home. (Marie Cecile Anderson / City Cast Nashville)
Some call The Corner Pub in Green Hills the best sports bar in town, known for keeping wings and beer cheap. It’s been around for decades and remains a Nashville staple for many locals. I’m thrilled it has survived the endless new developments popping up in Green Hills.
